BURLINGTON — The Burlington Board of Health unanimously approved a late permit renewal for keeping animals at 14 Foster Road on August 25, 2026, for resident Rita Pisapia, whose household permit had expired June 30th. Board members voted 4-0 to grant the renewal with conditions after Pisapia attributed the missed deadline to technical issues and competing demands. Public Health Director Susan Lumenello reported the state's temporary order scheduling kratom as a Schedule 1 substance, effective August 28, 2026, allowing the board to enforce compliance and advance its subcommittee-drafted regulations aligned with state mandates.

The board deferred a permit change request for 15 County Road to the next meeting after the applicant failed to attend and filed paperwork contained inaccuracies; three complaints had been filed against that applicant.
