Board of Health approves routine staff reports, relocates hazardous waste event

Burlington Board of Health approves staff reports with focus on environmental programs. The Board unanimously approved reports from its Environmental Engineer and Public Health Director covering hazardous waste initiatives, water quality, and community health engagement. The Household Hazardous Waste Event will relocate to May 16 at Francis Wyman Elementary School, leaving Fox Hill due to construction and remaining there for the next three to four events.
Environmental Engineer Christine Mathis reported on ongoing assessment of lead in water service lines; though the Department of Public Works has no records of lead service lines in the town, required notices are being sent to targeted addresses. Director Susan Lumenello reported that Health Agent Marlene Johnson recently appeared on a national environmental health podcast and that a Lahey UMass community engagement event is set for April 8.
