BURLINGTON — The Board of Health Subcommittee advanced a draft regulation proposing a complete ban on all kratom products in Burlington, with a full Board vote scheduled for September 8. Chairperson Gayle DaMore and Board Member Orysia Hanushevsky heard public comment from Holly Trouville of Dracut, whose son died after consuming kratom products, urging elimination of both natural and synthetic forms. Director of Public Health Susan Lumenello drafted regulations that include penalties ranging from non-criminal disposition to permit revocation, with enforcement by the Board of Health and notification support from Police Chief Browne.

Board Member Hanushevsky requested revisions to section 4.1 language to reduce interpretive ambiguity and community safety risks; Lumenello agreed to strengthen the verbiage and update outdated source citations before September 8.
