Burlington School Committee approves $87.3M combined budget for fiscal 2027.

School Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Burlington School Committee approves $87.3M combined operating and accommodated budget for fiscal 2027. Superintendent Dr. Eric Conti and Finance Director Nichole Coscia presented a budget meeting the Select Board guideline of 4.25 percent in the operating account at $70,474,253, achieved through position eliminations, kindergarten section reductions, and attrition-based class-size maintenance.

The $16,835,321 accommodated account reflects a 3.5 percent increase driven by enrollment adjustments and out-of-district tuition costs, with circuit breaker funding expected to cover special education tuition fully. The Committee also reorganized for 2026-2027, electing Katherine Bond Chair and Meghan Nawoichik Vice Chair, and unanimously authorized submission of a Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for Burlington High School.
