Burlington Schools Set Aug. 31 Start Date For Grades 1-12
BURLINGTON — Burlington Public Schools has finalized its return-to-class calendar, setting Monday, Aug. 31 as the first day of school for grades 1-12, with staff professional-development days and student orientations filling the final two weeks of summer.

The district's calendar shows teachers reporting for building set-up and professional development Aug. 25-27, ahead of the Aug. 31 start for grades 1-12. Younger and newer students get an earlier introduction to their buildings: Marshall Simonds Middle School holds a sixth-grade WEB orientation Aug. 20, and Burlington High School runs a freshman orientation Aug. 25. The academic calendar also carries into the school year, with no school for teachers or students Sept. 4 and a Labor Day break Sept. 7.
