Capital Budget Committee approves $100,000 for building security and accessibility

Burlington Capital Budget Committee backs $130,000 in facility and equipment improvements. The committee voted 6-0-0 to recommend $100,000 from the tax levy for standardizing security and accessibility systems across municipal buildings, addressing inconsistent security protocols that range from electronic key fobs to traditional keys. Assistant Town Administrator Patrick Lawlor presented the request.
In a separate 5-0-1 vote with one abstention, the committee approved $30,000 from free cash to replace aging fitness equipment at the Council on Aging, including treadmills, bikes, a rower, and an ergometer.
