Burlington Conservation Commission greenlight for middle school fields carries strict conditions. Burlington's Conservation Commission unanimously approved the redevelopment of Burlington Public Schools' middle school playing fields at 114 Winn Street with waivers allowing 50 percent disturbance of the 100-foot inner riparian zone, contingent on PFAS-free construction, concrete playing surfaces, minimal elevation lips, and compensatory plantings of 12 shrubs. Vice Chair William Boivin addressed public criticism of the commission's oversight, attributing delays to the applicant's initial plan not fitting the available wetland space and to applicant-requested postponements.
The commission also issued a Certificate of Compliance and released a $3,500 bond for completed restoration at 44 Westwood Street, where significant wetland plantings have established successfully.
