Electronic Voting Committee elects Spielberger chair, renames itself.

Town Meeting Electronic Voting Committee · Meeting of January 15, 2026

Burlington's newly renamed Electronic Voting Committee unanimously elected Kevin Spielberger as Chairperson and adopted a charter focused on evaluating whether electronic voting should replace current Town Meeting procedures. The seven-member committee, chaired by Spielberger with Florence Leone as Vice Chair, discussed lease versus purchase options and identified concerns including initial costs, annual fees, storage limitations, and contingency planning for equipment failure — citing a prior malfunction during a Nahant town meeting. Spielberger, Roger Riggs, and Sagini Ramesh will contact vendors Meridia, Turning Technology, and Option Technology respectively; Town Clerk Jennifer Priest will provide a complete vendor list by January 23, 2026.

The committee reconvenes February 12, 2026.
