BURLINGTON — Government Review Committee approves charter language on 12 elected boards and positions. Chair Betsey Hughes led the committee through a systematic review of proposed charter provisions, with 12 votes on sections governing elected offices passing with unanimous or strong majorities. The committee voted unanimously to keep the Board of Health and Town Clerk as elected positions, and voted 9-2 to maintain the Constables as elected with new language ensuring their terms are not co-terminus.
The committee continues reviewing language for the Housing Authority and Recreation Commission, planning to meet with those boards before finalizing their charter sections.
