BURLINGTON — The Burlington Government Review Committee voted unanimously to require townwide approval of its revised municipal charter, advancing the document toward a January 2027 Town Meeting and April 2028 effective date. Chair Betsey Hughes' motion passed 7-0, incorporating the voter-approval requirement into the charter language itself. Under Article 6, the committee voted to require the town administrator to create and publish an organizational chart of all town departments, boards, and committees.
Patricia Lloyd of the UMass Collins Center provided draft updates on Articles 6, 9, and 10; Town Counsel Lisa Mead is reviewing the draft for comment. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25.
