Public Arts Committee approves $600 student artist contract for mural

Public Arts Committee · Meeting of May 27, 2026

BURLINGTON — Public Arts Committee approves $600 student artist contract for mural design and promotion. The payment, split into two installments, supports a community painting project running Saturdays from June 20 through August 1, with sessions from 10 am to 1 pm. Committee Chair Barbara L'Heureux will present the contract; the committee also discussed mounting concerns about the We Heart Art library event, as retiring Art Director George Ratkevich has no replacement.

Committee members plan to pitch funding to administration and the Planning Board on June 18, with all seven attendees volunteering to support the presentation, as the PAC's survival depends on a September Town Meeting appropriation.
