Public Arts Committee welcomes input on electrical box project, discusses 2026 initiatives.

Public Arts Committee · Meeting of January 14, 2026

BURLINGTON — Public Arts Committee advances two public art projects for Select Board review. The committee welcomed Interdepartmental Advisory Board member Raksma's proposal to paint an electrical box on Burlington Common and agreed to review her portfolio. The group, led by Chair Robert Buckley and Vice Chair Barbara L'Heureux, also discussed a 2026 mural project and a Call to Artists seeking three sculptures.

Regarding the Edwin sculpture, a reported injury prompted artist intervention to smooth edges; Committee Chair Buckley inspected and found the piece safe, though final purchase approval was deferred pending a second inspection by member George Ratkevich and the addition of new signage.
