BURLINGTON — Ways and Means approves six municipal operating budgets with combined value of $2.65 million. Chair Doug Davison and the committee voted unanimously on Human Resources ($276,607, 5.74% increase), Conservation ($335,672, 4.09%), Accounting ($585,061, 3.57%), Legal Services ($230,000, flat), Select Board and Town Administrator ($1.186 million, 3.06%), and Sealer of Weights and Measures ($18,392, 3.15%). The Council on Aging budget of $620,094, a 16.29% increase including a new assistant director position, passed 10 to 2 with one abstention after discussion about the role and succession planning.
Town Administrator John Danizio requested the committee delay voting on Local Transportation ($342,500) pending feedback on program goals and guardrails, as ridership has surged from 1,500 average monthly rides to 3,300 and unique riders have grown from 79 to nearly 180 within a year.
