Burlington School Wellness Advisory Committee reviews curriculum standards alignment. The 27-member committee examined grade 6-8 crosswalks showing how existing 1999 standards align with 2023 Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Frameworks, with formal adoption pending School Committee approval. Lisa Chen and Amy Doughty will attend an April 14 Board of Health meeting to gather feedback on new state standards for grades 6-8 and 9-12, with recommendations to follow to the full committee.
Susan Lumenello warned that Kratom, an unregulated synthetic substance mimicking opioid effects, has been found in Burlington stores and is the subject of pending Massachusetts legislation.
