Wellness Advisory Committee reviews health and PE standards alignment.

BURLINGTON — Wellness Advisory Committee advances standards review toward School Committee approval. The committee unanimously recommended adoption of Grade Span 3-5 standards aligned to the 2023 Massachusetts frameworks across nutrition and physical activity; all Health and PE Department recommendations received support using a consensus protocol. Charlotte Stephenson, School Wellness Coach from Framingham State University's John C.
Stalker Institute, reviewed the district's updated Wellness Policy and will submit it to DESE before the School Committee considers formal adoption. Elementary health instruction, currently absent from the district's curriculum, is flagged for future expansion.
