Zoning Bylaw Review Committee · Meeting of July 8, 2026

BURLINGTON — The Burlington Zoning Bylaw Review Committee advanced seven of eight proposed zoning amendments for the September warrant, voting unanimously on articles covering accessory dwelling units, animal-related uses, and temporary business signage. Chair Alex Rutfield and the committee approved amendments redefining pet shops to prohibit dog and cat sales while allowing adoption-display events, and voted to allow covered front entries relief from setback requirements in the RO Zoning District. The committee rejected a definition-of-structure amendment 0-4-2, finding it a regulation misplaced in the bylaws rather than a clarification, and continued the wall-art definition to the Planning Board meeting on August 6 after Vice Chair Mark Smukler questioned whether "mural" would better serve the provision.
