BURLINGTON — The Burlington Zoning Bylaw Review Committee reorganized and approved housing overlay articles for September Town Meeting. Chair Betsey Hughes nominated Vice Chair Alex Rutfield as the new Chair and Mark Smukler as Vice Chair, with both votes passing unanimously among seven voting members. Liz Bonventre, Planning staff, outlined three major warrant articles including a zoning overlay to permit up to 20 housing units per acre at 1 Rounder Way (a 3.5-acre parcel vacant five years in the flood plain), conversion of Class C office spaces on Middlesex Turnpike to housing under MBTA Community Overlay District protections, and a zoning change at 49 Middlesex Turnpike from Industrial to Business General for a jeweler retailer.
The committee also reviewed amendments clarifying animal-related commercial uses and adoption of eCode360, an online bylaw platform.
