Other Committee · Meeting of October 20, 2026
BURLINGTON — The Burlington Zoning Board of Appeals rejected a mismatched variance plan and continued a restaurant sign dispute. The board voted 5-0 to let applicants Flavio Pinto and Flavia Pinto withdraw a basement-entrance variance request after the final plan showed a 4.16-foot setback instead of the advertised 11.5 feet. The chair said the board "legally can't" approve a plan that differs from what was advertised.
Separately, the board continued a sign variance for the restaurant Saravana Bhavan at 90-92 Middlesex Turnpike to November 17, after member Mike said the board had understood it was "not inclined to agree with side by side" signs and Mark called the two-sign layout aesthetically inappropriate. The board capped any new sign height at two feet six and three-quarters inches and flagged unresolved fire-code questions over closing an interior door. Members also approved the October 6 minutes, 5-0.
