BURLINGTON — The Burlington Recreation Commission voted unanimously to transfer $88,500 from its revolving account for maintenance technology, building repairs and program subsidies. Commissioners approved $40,000 for painting and repair work on two Overlook Park buildings ahead of a November 12 grand opening, $12,000 for new accessible picnic tables at Simons Park, and $5,500 to subsidize rising Nashoba Valley ski program transportation costs. Staff member Kelly presented a new cost-recovery formula targeting 60 percent recovery of $321,000 in annual operational costs, implemented through roughly a $7 per-program fee increase this summer.

Commissioner Ryan pushed back, saying "it doesn't cost me any extra money if my kid wants to play hockey" compared with tax-funded schools and fire service, while Commissioner Nelson noted the revolving account already carries a $171,093.80 surplus. All revolving-account transfers passed by 5-0-0 votes.
