Burlington Sets Fall Archery Season For Landlocked Forest
Burlington will hold an archery season for deer in the Landlocked Forest starting Oct. 5, Burlington Patch reports, the most concrete new development to surface across town sources over the past day. Town Hall and the school district otherwise pointed to a quieter stretch as summer winds down.
TOWN HALL The town's website is spotlighting the Parks and Recreation Department's summer programming team, crediting staff for running the season's slate of activities across Burlington.
SCHOOLS Burlington Public Schools is entering the final run-up to the new academic year. Teachers report for set-up and professional development Aug. 25 through 27, with freshman orientation at Burlington High School set for the morning of Aug. 25. Classes for grades 1 through 12 begin Aug. 31, with pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students starting Sept. 8, the same evening the School Committee holds its first meeting of the new year. At Marshall Simonds Middle School, students are taking part in a statewide civics challenge that the district says brings history lessons to life for participants.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The town is also highlighting a recent "You Are Not Alone" mental health awareness night that brought Burlington residents together, part of the community's continued focus on mental health support.
