Commission continues review after water-leak discovery
Burlington's Conservation Commission continued review of a disputed commercial project after finding a water leak, not a natural wetland, behind the site.

Burlington's Conservation Commission continued review of a disputed commercial project after finding a water leak, not a natural wetland, behind the site. Wetland scientist Angie Tibo told the board that cattails near 85 Wilmington Road tested positive for chlorine and fluoride, pointing to a leaking drinking-water line rather than groundwater. Member Sarah Wolinski said she wanted "somebody who has absolutely no axe to grind to weigh in" before any wetland determination.
Vice-Chair Larry Cohen separately pressed engineer David Robinson on a revised stormwater mounding analysis, saying "I have some substantial concerns about this" after the model showed groundwater rising within two inches of the chamber system during a 100-year storm. The commission voted 4-0 to continue the hearing to August 13. In routine business, members also voted 4-0 to close out decades-old permits at 11 Duncan Road, 145 Wilmington Road and 0 Bedford Street, and returned a $2,500 bond and a $1,000 bond tied to those projects.
