Burlington's Conservation Commission voted 6-0 to give final wetlands approval to Nordblom Company's 188-unit apartment project at 129-131 Middlesex Turnpike, already backed by Town Meeting and the Planning Board, and set a $30,000 cash bond, up from the $25,000 the board charged a comparable Nordblom project in 2016. Engineer Frank DiPietro of VHB and Nordblom's Todd Fremont Smith answered detailed questions on stormwater retention systems from Commissioner Larry. The board also issued a formal enforcement order against a 30 Bedford Street owner, identified only as Enrico, who admitted cutting roughly a dozen trees in a protected wetland buffer without a permit, requiring a two-to-one tree-replacement plan.
Separately, Eversource previewed a new Burlington substation and transmission project under a new state permitting process, drawing commissioners' complaints that the presentation "doesn't do anything for me," with a detailed walk-through set for September 16.
