Conservation · Meeting of August 13, 2026

Burlington Conservation Commission ratifies emergency gas main repair, clears three building projects. Conservation staff member Eileen Coleman had already signed an emergency certification allowing National Grid to fix grade-one gas leaks under a culverted stream on Maud Graham Circle, and the four-member board voted to ratify it "post facto." National Grid's Patrick Hutchinson called the leaks "the worst kind." The commission separately approved a certificate of compliance for 1 Elizabeth Avenue, negative determinations for additions at 4 Lucy Road and 12 Chadwick Road, and an order of conditions for 8 Nelson Road, raising that project's restoration bond to $4,000 from the commission's typical $3,000. Nordblom Company's Todd Fremont Smith and engineer Frank DiPetro detailed drainage and soil-testing responses for their 188-unit apartment project at 129-131 Middlesex Turnpike, continued to September 10 pending Planning Board review and an outstanding groundwater contamination letter.
