School Committee · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Burlington's School Committee voted 3-1 to force a public playground vendor review at Fox Hill Elementary. Member Catherine told colleagues a proposed climbing structure lacks third-party IPEMA safety certification and has a 12-foot fall height, versus a 7-foot-4-inch alternative from Childscapes. Member Jeremy countered that the Fox Hill Building Committee had already settled the matter 10-3 among its 15 members.

The School Committee's motion requires a vendor status update on the Fox Hill Building Committee's next agenda, set for the following Tuesday at 6 p.m., before any contract vote. Separately, the committee weighed waiving part of a $17,900 facility-rental bill for nonprofit Probasi Inc.'s Durga Puja festival, agreeing informally to cut the fee by "at least $2,000."
