Burlington Planning Board promotes staffer, defers Wonder restaurant over parking concerns

BURLINGTON — August 21, 2025 — Burlington Planning Board continues Wonder restaurant hearing amid delivery-driver parking concerns at the Burlington Mall. The board voted 5-0 at its August 21 remote meeting to push the hearing for HGR Holdings LLC, doing business as Wonder, to September 4, after member Jess raised concerns about congestion and illegal parking in the rear lot of the Village at the Burlington Mall, where the 3,675-square-foot fast-casual concept proposes to seat 15 indoors and 20 on an outdoor patio. Wonder representative Jason Botcher said the company's tech platform controls roughly 75 percent of courier dispatching and can limit drivers on site at any given time, projecting about 150 daily orders split evenly between delivery and dine-in or pickup; the board directed applicant attorney Mark Bond to consult with mall property management about no-standing signage before the next meeting. In a separate unanimous vote, the board promoted Caleb Zimmerman from Planner 1 Development Coordinator to Assistant Director of Planning, and approved a 5-0 special permit for Refresh Park LLC covering a business-name and ownership change for an existing therapeutic massage operation inside the mall.
