Planning Board · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Burlington's Planning Board advanced three zoning bylaw amendments to Town Meeting and pushed off votes on three major development projects. The board voted 7-0 to recommend a new "Temporary Special Signs" provision and a front-yard setback footnote, both drafted by Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Jeffrey DeBona, and voted 6-1 to recommend a revised definition of "Structure" after DeBona said a resident spent "roughly $4,300" fighting a shed-related ZBA case. The Zoning Bylaw Review Committee opposed the structure fix 0-4-2, its chair, Alex Rutfield, told the board.

Nordblom Company sought a reduction in required parking from 1.5 to 1.35 spaces per unit at its 129-131 Middlesex Turnpike project, citing post-pandemic utilization data; the board continued that matter, along with Chick-fil-A's and CrossPoint's 2 Wall Street applications and a Wilmington Road site plan, to September meetings.
