Burlington's Planning Board unanimously approved a 188-unit housing project at Northwest Park, clearing away two office buildings. The board voted 7-0, with Chair Brenda Rappaport presiding, to approve special permits and a site plan for 129-131 Middlesex Turnpike after attorney Robert Buckley, representing Nordblom Company, said the roughly 222,067-square-foot project carries a pending $3 million state grant and could lift the site's real estate taxes from about $150,000 to over $500,000 a year. Buckley said construction could start this spring with a 2029 opening.
The board also approved a special permit for Aqua-Tots Swim School at 43 Middlesex Turnpike, OK'd Tesla EV chargers at the Wegmans on Third Avenue, and continued Chick-fil-A's drive-through and restaurant permits for 2 Wall Street to September 17 pending a peer review response. "Good zoning is a 20-year horizon," Rappaport said.
