Burlington School Building Committee Approves $168,000 in Project Invoices Unanimously

BURLINGTON — January 20, 2026 — Burlington's school building committee approved over $168,000 in invoices and learned filed sub-bids came in $1.36 million below estimates. The committee voted 11-0 three times Tuesday, approving DeNisco invoices totaling $125,300.05 for bidding, traffic studies, and geotechnical services, and a $43,250 Doran Whittier invoice for construction documents and bidding. A representative identified as Nick reported that sub-bids across all trade categories — plumbing, HVAC, electrical, metal windows, waterproofing, and elevators — came in just under 5 percent below the 90 percent construction document estimate. General contractor bids are due January 28 at 2 p.m., with three firms still in the running after W.T. Rich withdrew; an executed contract is targeted for March 1 and student move-in remains set for February 2028. The Massachusetts School Building Authority has reimbursed the town $1.4 million through its ProPay portal, with another $2.1 million in pending requests that would bring total state reimbursements to date above $3 million.
