BURLINGTON — The Burlington Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved two setback variances and two sign permits at its June 16 meeting. The board voted 5-0-0 on four separate matters, including an 11.7-foot side setback variance for applicant Dan Carmody at 5 Phyllis Avenue, conditioned on a "natural buffer zone" of arborvitae trees along the eastern property line. Members also approved sign permits for 6C Wayside Road, where contractor Ricky Zeng proposed back-lit channel letters, and for 100 District Avenue, where Tavern in the Square is shrinking its primary sign from 46 inches to 36 inches as part of an ongoing renovation.
A 21.3-foot front yard setback variance for a new portico at 2 Sycamore Street was approved after applicant Deb Garcide and the board established hardship based on the lot being "wider than it is deep." No members of the public spoke on any application.
