BURLINGTON — The Burlington Government Review Committee voted unanimously to keep the "town administrator" title and to drop a plan folding capital budget into the finance committee. Members also approved, 7-1, new disclosure language requiring town meeting members to flag financial conflicts before speaking, and adopted, 7-1, revised rules for filling vacancies on elected boards. The bulk of the session went to informally shaping a recall-election framework after 80 percent of a 122-page community survey favored one, despite town meeting rejecting recall 54-44 in 2024; members leaned toward requiring roughly 387 signatures to file and about 3,800, with precinct caps, to force a vote.
"I guess our general recommendation would be 64 to 90 days," consultant Pat said of the election timeline. No formal recall vote was taken; drafting continues toward July 28 and August 4 meetings.
