BURLINGTON — The Conservation Commission continued a contentious Chick-fil-A hearing after questioning the project's riverfront waiver request. Chair Larry Cohen told representatives of applicant Crosspoint Associates they had not proven "there is no practical and substantial equivalent economic alternative" to moving the drive-through closer to a stream at 2 Wall Street, and continued the matter 5-0-0 to May 28. Project manager Joey Fonseca said a Contech treatment unit is now designed to remove 80 percent of pollutants, and the matter also awaits a Zoning Board of Appeals decision continued to May 5.
Separately, the commission issued a negative determination letting Brenda Lane resident Joseph Calandrelli retroactively justify cutting two trees near wetlands, requiring two replacement plantings, and voted 5-0-0 to return a full $2,500 bond to Quinn Builders Co. for a finished Maureen Drive project.
