Conservation · Meeting of May 14, 2026

Burlington's Conservation Commission elected a new chair and ordered two homeowners to restore illegally filled wetlands. The panel voted 5-0 to elect William Boivin chair, ending Larry Cohen's 25-year tenure, and voted 5-0 to name Cohen vice chair. Commissioners also voted 5-0 to issue enforcement orders against Dominic Costa at 14 County Road and Andrea Calendrillo at 16 County Road, requiring hand removal of fill and wood chips from wetlands and native plantings by June 25, 2026.

Conservation Administrator Eileen Coleman called the violation "pretty egregious." Separately, the commission approved sureties of $2,500 for 22 Ledgewood Drive and 36 Upland Road and $1,500 for 8 Fred Street, and voted 5-0 to send state legislators a letter opposing Environmental Bond Bill amendments that would limit local wetlands enforcement on priority housing projects.
