Planning Board · Meeting of July 16, 2026

Burlington's Planning Board voted 4-2 to order a peer traffic review before deciding on Chick-fil-A's proposed drive-through at 2 Wall Street. Vice Chair Barbara L'Heureux said she "do not feel comfortable" with employees stationed in drive-through lanes near vehicles, citing reported accidents elsewhere. Member Gregory Ryan opposed the review, calculating that a 265-foot turn lane could hold "17 cars" and arguing the site could handle projected volume.

The board continued all three Chick-fil-A applications to August 6. Separately, the board unanimously recommended raising the zoning violation fine from $50 to $300 per day, approved special permits for Envision Energy USA and the Halal Spot restaurant at 90 Middlesex Turnpike, and withdrew a proposed "wall art" bylaw definition after Town Counsel Lisa Mead flagged First Amendment concerns tied to Reed v. Gilbert.
