Planning Board · Meeting of May 7, 2026

Burlington's Planning Board ordered an independent traffic peer review for the Northwest Park apartment project and continued two major hearings to May 21. The board voted to have staff scope and solicit bids for a third-party transportation review of the 129-131 Middlesex Turnpike site under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53G, after member Jack Kelly and others raised traffic and sidewalk concerns. VHB engineer Frank DiPietro detailed stormwater upgrades cutting peak runoff by up to 20 percent in a 100-year storm.

The project includes 282 parking spaces, roughly 1.5 per unit, split between underground and surface lots. A separate hearing on 85 Wilmington Road was also continued to May 21 at the applicant's request, with Kelly asking, "will they have that traffic study completed before the 28th of May, because the seniors will be all finished at Shawshin by then?"
