Burlington Board of Health Approves Staff Reports, Reviews Liberty Ave. Pest Control Progress

BURLINGTON — October 14, 2025 — Burlington Board of Health clears staff reports and reviews rodent abatement at a brief October meeting. Chair Gail DeMori's board heard from Liberty Avenue residents Warren Chia and Lynn Chia, who reported signing a one-year, just-over-$2,000 contract with NW Pest Control to address rodent activity near their permitted backyard hen operation; the vendor has gassed burrows and installed bait stations, with monthly site visits planned. Associate Director of Public Health Michael Green reported the department's flu clinic distributed all 150 high-dose vaccines and had 37 of 250 regular-dose doses remaining with one clinic left, and said the high-dose allotment may increase next year due to strong demand. Director of Public Health Susan Lumenello said second-round interviews are underway for an epidemiologist and a health communication specialist, and that a part-time health inspector position was posted the same day to support the Town of Lexington while its inspector is on maternity leave.
