Burlington Board of Health Moves Hazardous Waste Event to Francis Wyman School

BURLINGTON — February 24, 2026 — Burlington Board of Health shifts its annual household hazardous waste event to Francis Wyman Elementary School, effective May 16. Environmental Engineer Christine Mathis told the board Tuesday that Fox Hill Elementary School, the usual site, will be under active construction beginning in April, making it unsuitable for the event's traffic flow; the move to Francis Wyman is expected to last three to four collection cycles. Director of Public Health Susan Lumenello reported that roughly 30 UMass public health students will spend a full day at Board of Health offices on April 8 as part of a community engagement partnership, with the goal of recruiting Medical Reserve Corps volunteers.
