School Committee · Meeting of August 27, 2026

BURLINGTON — The Burlington High School Building Committee approved July minutes 9-0 with four abstentions and prepped for a September 24 MSBA site visit. Chair Katherine Bond pressed officials on why the district's space analysis shows roughly 320 square feet per pupil, with Dr. Conti explaining the figure is inflated by central-office, BCAT and preschool space counted against the high school.

Bob Kuna said two MSBA surveys completed since the 2017 senior study mean "pretty much all of our information is accurate." Dr. Conti said Burlington has been rejected for MSBA funding "four or five times" previously and that a decision is expected before winter break. If accepted, the May Town Meeting would need to fund continued design work; if not, the committee would consider hiring help for a 10-year facilities plan starting in January.
