Burlington's Recreation Commission voted to accept a $78,132.71 bequest from the trust of Marshall Simons for programs at Simons Park. The panel also voted 4-0 to appoint Matthew Ganley, a town employee since 2015, as working foreman after he served in the role on a temporary basis since March. Commissioners approved $5,000 from the department's revolving account to send staff members Brendan and Kelly to the National Recreation and Park Association's conference in Philadelphia, and signed off on eight solar-powered light towers for the Burlington Youth Soccer Association's practices at Mary Cummings Park through Nov. 8.

Staff told the board that police had identified three people responsible for an Aug. 9 vandalism spree at Regan Park, including graffiti and fireworks set off in a portable toilet, and that restitution was being sought for the damage and staff time.
