BURLINGTON — The Burlington School Committee voted 4-0 to adopt a revised restraint and seclusion policy required under new state special education rules. Member Christine Monaco objected to a change raising the seclusion notification threshold from 20 to 30 minutes, arguing every incident "should be reported every time." The committee separately voted 4-0 to give Superintendent Eric Conte a 3.5 percent raise for fiscal 2027, after rating his annual performance "proficient" overall, with "exemplary" marks in professional culture. Food Services' Carrie Noak reported cafeteria participation up 9.8 percent districtwide, with 14 percent increases at Memorial and Fox Hill elementary schools.
Staff said the state has selected Burlington High School for an MSBA "senior study" site visit set for September 21, a step toward a possible future building project.
