School Committee · Meeting of April 28, 2026

BURLINGTON — The Burlington School Committee voted 5-0 to tighten exterior door security rules and adopt state-requested edits to its middle school pathway policy. Members settled a wording dispute by approving "authorized individual or personnel" language for Policy ECA after debate between Ms. Monaco and Jeremy. A staff member identified as Eric briefed the board on Fox Hill Elementary's new traffic pattern, warning "you cannot pass a bus with slashers and stop sign out" and noting parking-lot pickup has been eliminated.

Dr. Chen said the district is pursuing a PRISM III grant to cover roughly $42,000 in literacy curriculum implementation costs. Ms. Monaco objected to a June 1 deadline for families to contest math placements, saying "we're putting scheduling ahead of what's good for the kid." The committee also voted to enter executive session, 4-0 by roll call, to discuss BEA union contract strategy.
