Select Board · Meeting of June 22, 2026

Burlington's Select Board heard nearly two hours of public comment on the ICE processing facility at 1000 District Avenue and took no vote on the matter. Town officials John Denizio and Patrick Lawler said a Massachusetts district court denied the town's bid for an administrative warrant to inspect the facility, ruling that affidavits filed in September were untimely. Select Board member Sarah, who requested the discussion, said "the report I wanted to give you all ... just never came." Town Meeting member Phyllis Neufeld asked for quarterly updates and noted the facility's federal lease expires in 2028.

Separately, the board voted 5-0 to adopt its 235-page hazard mitigation plan ahead of a June 30 FEMA deadline, accepted a $25,000 donation from the Sullivan family for tree-lighting fireworks, and confirmed four personnel appointments, including two new firefighter paramedics.
